Zakynthos Resorts
Tsilivi, Alykes, Alykanas
Along the eastern coast of Zakynthos are the tourist resorts of Tsilivi, Planos, Alykes, and Alykanas. For many years, these beaches have proudly held the “Blue Flag” award—the European Commission’s hallmark for clean and well-maintained beaches. Tsilivi–Planos is located on the east coast of Zakynthos. In summer, you can often enjoy a cool easterly breeze in the afternoons. Tsilivi Beach is a beautiful sandy beach offering plenty of opportunities for water sports. The resort also features a charming harbour and a lively main street with numerous bars, taverns, souvenir shops, and supermarkets. Within walking distance, you will find authentic villages such as Tragaki and Kypseli, perfect for exploring. Tsilivi and Planos are also very popular with tourists interested in cycling and walking excursions. A sporty resort, Tsilivi is home to a football academy sponsored by AFC Ajax from Amsterdam. With Zakynthos Town nearby, Tsilivi is an ideal destination for everyone. The resorts of Alykes and Alykanas are slightly smaller than Tsilivi but offer many of the same facilities.
Agios Sostis, Lithakia, Koukla
The village of Agios Sostis is situated in the Bay of Laganas, about a ten-minute walk along the coast from the resort of Laganas. The two resorts have very different atmospheres—Agios Sostis is a charming, quiet seaside resort. The pretty promenade and small fishing harbour are set within beautiful olive grove countryside. From the beach at Agios Sostis, you can look out towards the impressive Cameo Island and Marathonisi Island further out at sea. There are Greek taverns, restaurants, mini-markets, and bars in the resort to meet all your holiday needs. You can even hire a pedal boat to explore the area at your leisure.
Lithakia village is located inland behind Agios Sostis and is a quaint town for a stroll or a cycle ride. Koukla is a small resort situated on the beach within walking distance of Agios Sostis. Porta Koukla has a supermarket, taverns, and offers a Greek night with live singing by Pavlo Linardos at the Thalassa Bar.
Koukla Beach is a quiet beach surrounded by olive trees, perfect for an afternoon stroll. Porta Koukla is a very welcoming place for those looking for a small and cosy holiday location.
Argasi, Vasilikos
At the foot of Mount Skopos sits the tourist village of Argassi. Argassi is just a ten-minute drive south of Zakynthos Town and is the first village you come to on your way along the southern Vasilikos Peninsula. Argassi village has a lively main street with numerous bars, restaurants, fast food outlets, and souvenir shops. The sand-and-pebble beach is not very wide but offers plenty of opportunities for activities and water sports. Further along the southern coastline, the Vasilikos Peninsula is renowned for its beautiful beaches and traditional Greek island charm. Porto Kaminia, Agios Nikolaos, and Gerakas are just a few of the stunning beaches found along this coast. The region also has a number of traditional taverns and local mini-markets to meet all your holiday needs.
Keri, Marathia
In the west of Zakynthos lies the area of Keri, including the mountain village of Keri, the harbour of Limni Keri, the beach of Marathia, and the famous Keri Caves. Everyone who comes here feels at home and enjoys a unique Greek experience. Keri village is a traditional settlement with lovely, authentic Greek alleyways to explore. The Keri Lighthouse sits on the edge of the cliffs on the outskirts of the village and offers fantastic views over the coastline. The seaside resort of Limni Keriou, meaning “Lake Keri,” has a very inviting beach and promenade. Here you will find several supermarkets and mini-markets, taverns, souvenir shops, and a delicious bakery. This quiet resort is a wonderful destination for hikers, nature lovers, and families with small children, and is also ideal for a day trip during your holiday in Zakynthos.
Kalamaki, Laganas
Located in the Bay of Laganas, the beautiful sandy Kalamaki Beach is one of the nesting beaches of the Caretta caretta sea turtle. On the beach during the day, you can rent pedalo boats and sunbeds with umbrellas, or if you are up really early, you may even have the chance to see Caretta caretta hatchlings emerging from their nests. This resort is an ideal place for people who simply want to sit back and relax. The main road of Kalamaki offers a selection of taverns, restaurants, bars, supermarkets, and shops. There is plenty to keep you entertained during your holiday in Zante. From Kalamaki, you can also easily reach Zakynthos Town and the neighbouring resorts of Laganas and Argassi if you fancy a more lively nightlife scene.
The resort of Laganas is situated in the southern region of Zakynthos. Laganas is the largest and busiest resort on the island, with a strong emphasis on nightlife, especially along the main street. There are numerous bars, restaurants, fast food outlets, and souvenir shops. Laganas is very popular with younger tourists who enjoy a lively holiday. In the wider Laganas area, you will find hotels, apartments, and taverns that are much quieter and more family-oriented. The opportunity to rent water bikes and spot turtles makes the holiday complete.
