ZAKYNTHOS VIP TOUR
Zante Zakynthos turtle spotting boat trip
The Nefis Travel Zakynthos turtle spotting boat trip Eco friendly turtle spotting tour is a unique turtle spotting excursion and way to see the Caretta Caretta loggerhead turtles and to swim and snorkel in the most extraordinary turquoise waters around Turtle Island and the Keri Caves.
Zakynthos, also known as Zante, is the largest breeding ground for the Caretta Caretta turtle in the whole of the Mediterranean Sea. They have been here for millions of years and are often a Zante holiday highlight on the Zakynthos turtle tours. They are very beautiful creatures, but are highly endangered. We work alongside ARCHELON and sponsor the Sea Turtle Protection Society, to ensure that our Zakynthos turtle spotting boat trips and boat excursions are eco-friendly. On board our Nefis Travel Zakynthos boat, which is authorized by the National Marine Park, we will introduce you to the official staff guides of the Greek Archelon society. They will explain the important information about the turtles and their biology.
For our boat trip VIP Eco-friendly turtle spotting tour, you will be picked by the Nefis Travel Zakynthos luxury coach from nearly every resort in Zante. We will depart on this turtle spotting excursion around 8.30 AM and you’ll return around 1.45 PM (the times are depending on the resort you will be staying). In the high season the trip is also available in the afternoon. We board the turtles spotting boat trip at the picturesque harbour of Agios Sostis. From here we go for our first turtle spotting adventure. We nearly always have the chance to take a snapshot of these enchanting animals up close.
Next on the Zakynthos boat trip VIP Eco-friendly turtle spotting tour, we sail on to Marathonisi, also known as Zakynthos Turtle Island. With our unique timing on the this Zante boat excursion, we are the first ones of the day to arrive to Turtle Island. We stop to Turtle Island Caves and swim with the brightly colored fish – this is a fantastic place for snorkeling. We stay around the caves and beach for around 35 minutes so you really have a chance to relax and enjoy.
Sailing on from Zakynthos Turtle Island, on this boat excursion, we head to the Keri Caves, enjoying the beautiful coastal scenery of Zante along the way. At the Keri Caves we drop anchor for another swimstop. You have the opportunity to swim and snorkel around the Keri Caves, and to listen to the Archelon guides presentation about the biology of the turtles and their on-going research work. During our boat trip there is also a small shop on board selling turtle souvenirs – all purchases support the work of the Sea protection society Archelon. You can even adopt a turtle to support its journey!
On our way back to Agios Sostis, we make sure to have one final turtle spotting experience in case we didn’t see them in our first attempt. If you didn’t get your turtle pictures the first time round, we make sure you get it now!
* On our Eco – friendly turtle spotting excursion, if required, the children on board can also participate in an educational pirate’s game where they learn a lot about Greek Mythology. At the end of the game, our small friends will even obtain a pirates diploma as a souvenir.
